I have been dealing with what I thought was a prostatitis issue for 18 years after being diagnosed with BPH.
About 3 weeks ago I had been traveling, and my prostatitis flared up again, so I got antibiotics and started using them. It seemed no better as usual , so I stopped the meds, and hopped on the internet. Some background: I am 68 years old, and my PSA has gone up but not to the point of concern. I also am an avid runner and do some stretching.
The more I researched the more I realized, there was a distinct possibility that I had a pelvic muscle issue, causing the pain. Sometimes I feel like I am sitting on a knot, and sometimes there is constant burning.
I came across Katie Beckham while I was doing my research. From all that I read, I thought maybe there is an alternative to 5mg of Cialis a day and antibiotics on a regular basis.
I made an appointment. Katie was very responsive and helpful, and comfortable to work with. Her first question was if my cultures were clear when I did my urine test and I said yes. I presume this was her first indication that I could benefit from her regimen dealing w muscle imbalance.
It has only been two weeks, and my life below the belt has taken a new direction. Through her regimen of breathing and specific self massaging, and stretching instructions , I have been able to find remarkable relief to the point that I am drug free and feeling almost 💯 percent. I used to get up 3 - 5 times a night to urinate, and now twice in the last 2 weeks, I slept through the night.
I would say things are not perfect yet , but I am feeling much better and KNOW this stretching and massage therapy is working.
Thank you, Katie, for being professional, easy to understand, and giving me the right tools . I’ve had only one appointment so far, and will probably return to make sure I am doing everything correctly. Again, Katie’s philosophy is to help clients become independent in self management, and significantly reduce pain.
"I've been suffering from CPPS and other issues after my vasectomy. I found Katie online and made an appointment to meet with her. Nervous, excitement and doubt had filled my mind before the appointment. I quickly became comfortable and knew right away I was at the right place. She's been a huge support physically and emotionally throughout the process Shes highly skilled and very knowledgeable when it comes to pelvic floor function/dysfunction. Katie incorporates various techniques to manipulate your trigger points and teaches you exercises to improve your condition on your own. This experience has been life changing and I highly recommend Katie to anyone suffering from chronic pelvic pain syndrome."
"Two words: WOW and AMAZING describes the knowledge and skill Katie Beckham has in treating male pelvic floor issues! For 3 plus years I suffered from annoying groin pain and urinary issues.
Went to 5 different DR's, had numerous tests done, (all test's were normal) took several rounds of medications and antibiotics and the answer was always "Your Fine" but I was still in pain….something was not right! Was very, very frustrated! All types of scenarios start to run through your mind! Finally, I was referred for Pelvic Floor Therapy and my quality of life changed almost overnight. My pelvic floor was tight (tense muscles) and that was causing the groin pain and urinary dribble/frequency issues. The groin pain disappeared almost overnight and the urinary issues improved in the later weeks. I cannot emphasize enough to try pelvic floor therapy if you believe that modern medicine is not helping you!
Wish that I would have found her 3 years ago!
Katie is top notch in her field and I highly recommend her for your therapy needs."
Diagnosed over ten years ago with chronic pelvic pain my journey for effective treatment has ended with Katie Beckhan. Like many men with pelvic floor disorders my symptoms were initially misdiagnosed and treated as prostatitis with months of extensive prescriptions of antibiotics. Frustrated with no relief of the symptoms and concerned of the affects the antibiotics were having on my bod, I began to research other alternatives. Contacting Dr. Wise at the PelvicPainHelp group, he was able to provide insight to what I was experiencing and put me in contact with a doctor and physical therapy group in Austin. For months I travelled from Houston to Austin to receive treatment, It was slow progress but with each visit there was a noticeable improvement. After three months I was in a place where no treatment was necessary. I have come to learn that my pelvic floor issues are a byproduct of stress and come and go periodically. Over the years I have been treated at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas and Memorial Hermann with varying degrees of success. Continuously seeking treatment alternatives I ran across Beckhan Physical Therapy and Wellness and reached out to Katie when my pelvic pain paid me its next visit. What I found was the most knowledgeable therapist I have met in this very specialized field, an individual that is very open and easy to talk to about the issue, and knows how to find and fix the problem quickly. Because my condition is intermittent, each time the pain returned and I started therapy with either of the hospital facilities the protocols started over. In some cases this meant starting over with a new therapist and with the first visit consisting of a mere consultation. I appreciate the need for processes and protocols however it only extended my misery by weeks if not longer. Not the case with Katie. On the first visit we discussed the history of the issue with Katie asking very specific and focused questions and then got to work. Her techniques are unparalleled with any experience I have had but most importantly they result in extremely quick relief. What has taken months of weekly visits at other facilities Katie has been able to achieve in two one hour sessions. What I have viewed as a very disruptive condition in the past I now consider a temporary inconvenience that can be resolved within a few visits with Katie.
I have suffered from painful intercourse for over 15 years. It got to the point that i stopped having intercourse altogether. Doctors prescribed various hormonal creams and recommended numerous lubricants but nothing worked. I had two rounds of Mona Lisa treatments, about a year apart, but even that was too painful to continue. A couple of months ago I received a referral to see Katie. She actually called me the same day to schedule my appointment. I knew then that she was special. I didn't even know this type of therapy existed. I was a little apprehensive and very nervous at first but Katie made me feel so comfortable that I lost all my inhibitions in the first 5 minutes of my appointment. She was top notch; very professional, informative, extremely knowledgeable and most of all personable. She managed to not make me feel awkward while we discussed the most intimate details! She provided me with all kinds of samples and recommended several products for me to try at home as part of my therapy. She provided targeted manual therapy to tight involved muscles and coached me through helpful breathing techniques, all aimed at calming my pelvic floor. She encouraged me along the way, was determined to put an end to my misery, and on top of that she made me laugh a lot. But best of all, my therapy was successful! I cannot believe after so many years I actually have a solution to my problem. I highly recommend Katie if you are looking for a physical therapy and wellness advocate who specializes in pelvic therapy. Life changing results!
"As a male in his thirties, core weakness and rectal pain is a very sensitive subject.
After years of going undiagnosed by primary care physicians, orthopedic doctors, and pain-management specialists, I found Katie.
I found that her knowledge and experience coupled with her nurturing personality helped me feel very comfortable discussing the most sensitive of subjects.
After a few sessions, I feel confident my issues are behind me."
"After I had my son, I suffered from prolapse. It was a very scary time for me as I had no idea what to expect or know whether or not I would heal. I'm so glad I found Katie! At our first appointment, she encouraged me and gave me confidence in my healing ability. She educated me on pelvic floor musculature and gave me exercises to perform. At our subsequent sessions, she further encouraged me and challenged me to take my exercises up a notch, all the while educating me on pelvic and gut health. I did not need many sessions and am happy to say that I have met all of my goals that I aimed to meet and then some! I'm also very grateful for some of the dietary recommendations she gave me. I have adopted her advice into my every day activities and diet and feel so much better for it now! THANK YOU KATIE!"
"After prostate and hernia surgery, I suffered groin and lower back pain. Katie educated me on pelvic floor musculature plus other muscle groups related to my pain. She provided exercises to do between sessions that helped to improve my pain and make it more manageable. She was compassionate, listened attentively to emerging issues and was innovative in her interventions. Respectful at all times she also brought her sense of humor to the consultation room. She significantly helped me in improving my condition. I'm very grateful to having met Katie and recommend her highly."
"I just want you all to know what a wonderful therapist you all have by the name Kate Beckham! In just one therapy I started feeling a lot better, I have an overactive bladder, would have to urinate all the time, especially at night! After 2weeks I was going every 2-3 times only instead of every hour which was a big improvement! She explained a lot of ideas to improve my bladder and and certain foods to avoid, I would highly recommend Kate Beckham to anyone who has IC!"
"Katie has been a blessing to my life. She is committed to her job and she takes all the time to listen and to ask question in order to find the best treatment. She is extremely respectful, patient and caring on top of having the most magical hands. I have also seen her work with patients and every single one of them felt a lot better after their session with her. I don't have enough words to thank her and recommender to everyone!"
"I feel so thankful to have had Katie as my physical therapist. She was so knowledgeable about her practice and she treated me not only as a patient but as a friend. She always listened to my needs as a patient and made sure I was comfortable throughout my physical therapy sessions. I saw noticeable improvement very early on into physical therapy and by the end feel I have recovered 100%. I cannot recommend Katie enough. She is amazing and I had a great experience!"
"Katie has been a wonderful resource for me in order to get advice for my pregnant daughter who was having issues with severe burning pain across the top of her abdomen during the 8th month of her pregnancy. Katie gave me wonderful advice about the root cause and made several suggestions to remedy the problem, which helped tremendously. After the baby was delivered my daughter began experiencing pelvic organ collapse. Katie was instrumental in helping my daughter advocate for herself to her ObGyn in getting the proper care and provided much reassurance that the problem could be remedied without surgical intervention. My daughter lives in Plano, but Katie helped us find an appropriate therapist here in our area to help her. I am so grateful, and my daughter is as well. Thank you Katie! You are kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and skilled. Your patients are lucky to have you!"
My experience as Katie's patient has forever changed what I expect to receive as treatment from any medical professional I see moving forward. Having pelvic floor dysfunction is not only stressful to experience, but going about fixing it can be daunting as well. Not to mention being only 20 years old, I felt very uncomfortable with the idea that my body was already having issues of this variety. I had no idea what to expect from a pelvic floor therapist, but I surely was not expecting to be met with such a vastly educated and thorough individual that would dedicate every session to maximizing the quality of my bodies' function. I went to Katie with pelvic floor dysfunction and received help for not only this, but many other issues ignored by so many doctors that I had seen previously, to include reproductive health and nutrition/gut health. She offered so many resources to help me further educate myself beyond what we discussed in sessions so I could properly heal and support my body on my own. Beyond that, Katie is such a delight to be around! Her nurturing personality paired with her humor and sincerity always made me feel security in our sessions. I recommend her to all of my closest friends and family and am forever grateful for all she's helped me with!
I just wanted to write to say thank you!! I came to see you last year with an overactive bladder, and the help that you gave me has meant that I have been able to discontinue medications, stop botox treatment, and no longer have to contemplate a sacral neuromodulation device.
You are wonderful.
My teenage son had a rare muscle spasm in his pelvic floor, which occurred after a bike ride and the nerve pain was preventing him from any activity for more than 14 months. He had severe pain in his lower back, glutes, testicles, coccyx and groin area (bilaterally). We tried many different doctors and a variety of medicines and more than 50 sessions of physiotherapy by other therapists with almost no relief. Katie started working with my son at a point where we we had no hope for recovery. She evaluated his condition and started her very specific therapy of soft tissue work. Immediately after the first session we noticed the improvement. Every session she carefully evaluated my son's condition and applied the right therapy to improve his condition. It seemed to be the perfect combination of stretching and strengthening of just the right muscles. After 12 sessions my son feels significantly better, and we are very optimistic that he will make a complete recovery very soon. We can not thank Katie enough for the wonderful job.
I want to express my deepest appreciation for your great job Katie. Finding you as Parham's therapist was a miracle for us.
BTW, I signed up for audition with HMC for this upcoming Saturday. I have started my voice classes again and Parham is helping me to pick up again. Figures crossed, I hope Dr Gomes give me the chance to be part of the Choir. But I am indeed far away from the days I could sing properly. Anyhow, this was another great thing that happened to me after meeting you. Thank you again.
Have a good night.
Katie has been a life saver for me. In January 2020 I was hospitalized for severe diverticulitis. I had complications from the surgery and was hospitalized for 17 days. In July I had the reversal surgery. Again more complications, and a 2 week hospitalization. After my release, my surgeon prescribed physical therapy. I went to a PT in Baytown where I live. She was very good. However, in December 2020, I was again hospitalized. My PT did everything possible to help me. She then told me I needed to see a nutritionist to help me even more. She referred me to Katie who practices on the far west side of Houston. She said that Katie is a PT AND a nutritionist. That was the best thing I could have done! Katie listened to my entire health history. She is compassionate, professional and very knowledgeable! She knew exactly how to treat me. She put me on two specific diets in addition to PT exercises that would build my pelvic muscles and ‘wake up my colon’ which was asleep for over one year. I am forever grateful for her ‘digging deep’ to solve my severe issues. I am forever grateful for her. I didn’t mind driving over 50 miles one way, to attend the sessions. Thank you Katie for everything!
